Cataract surgery involves removing the cataract and putting in a lens implant. It takes me  around 10-15 minutes  for routine procedures but about an hour to prepare you for surgery. Because it includes sedation, patient should still fast and have an IV placed before surgery.  Most patients fall asleep during the procedure.
